What is your favorite thing about fall?

Is it the leaves painting flaming colors across the landscape? The spooky decorations appearing on porches? The temperature that's perfect for versatile fashions? The wistful melancholia of yet another year's closing act as the curtains start to twitch in anticipation of that final bow? The annual reminder of life's inevitable cycle of birth, thrive, fade and death, which- ultimately- someday, must claim you as well? Pumpkin spiced lattes?

Yeah, I like all those things too.

I see a lot of eye rolling about pumpkin pie spice “everything” but people have been enjoying these traditional warming flavors as the weather started to chill for hundreds of years. Spicy, sensual, bracing...who doesn't love a combination of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg? So ignore the haters. You know who's basic. They are. That's right I said it. Hating on pumpkin pie spice is BORING. Go protest something useful, like police brutality or something, and let us have our nice things. Sheesh.

Anyway. Raven Roast just so happens to pair beautifully with the lovely traditional and time tested combination of spices know as “pumpkin pie spice”. Make sure your spices are fresh! They lose their kick with age! I like mine with brown sugar or a touch of maple syrup. Fancy it up a notch with some lovely home frothed milk! Goes great with the ennui of life's slow and beautiful march toward the grave!

How to make your Raven Roast Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Single Mug Instant Method

Ingredients

2 -3 tsp Raven Roast Coffee Alternative (Caffeinated Mocha Mate, or non-caffeinated Cocoa Ramon)

1/4 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spices

1-2 tsp Brown Sugar or Cane Sugar (or 1T Maple Syrup!)

1/4 Cup warm frothy milk

Hot water

Directions:

Add Raven Roast, spices, and sugar to bottom of mug. Pour in hot water until mug is 3/4 cup full and stir well. Set aside to let silt settle to bottom of cup. Pour milk into sauce pan. Heat slowly until 140 F (60C). Froth with frother wand or home steam frother. Spoon/pour into cup, being careful not to disturb settle herbs. Enjoy while wearing your favorite sweater/mini skirt combo, contemplating life's mysteries on a rainy day.

French Press Multi-cup Method

Ingredients:

3 Tbls Raven Roast Coffee Alternative (Caffeinated Mocha Mate, or non-caffeinated Cocoa Ramon)

1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spices

2-3 Tbls Brown Sugar or Cane Sugar (or 3T Maple Syrup!)

3/4 Cup warm frothy milk

Hot water

Directions:

Add Raven Roast, spices, and sugar to bottom of french press. Add hot water. Stir well with spoon to disolve sugars before replacing plunger. Let your Raven Roast mixture sit for at least two minutes before depressing plunger. Pour milk into sauce pan. Heat slowly until 140 F (60C). Froth with frother wand or home steam frother. Fill each mug 3/4 cup full. Spoon/pour frothy milk into each cup. Enjoy while staring pensively out of window at fall foliage, your favorite scarf draped artfully around the shoulders of your tank dress.
